Scratch Food was formed in November 2010 with the goal of becoming Dayton’s premier full service, contemporary catering firm, specializing in large scale, custom events. In the first year of operation, Scratch Food was able to provide event services for Dayton luminaries like The Boonshoft Museum, AIDS Resource Center Ohio, Generation Dayton, Miami Valley Hospital, Reynolds and Reynolds, GE Capital, Cox Media and Dayton History (Carillon Park). Scratch Food enjoyed the privilege of catering the “Downtown Dayton Revival” music festival. The requirements for this event included feeding over 50 bands and crew, including national touring acts such as Train, John Legend, Rusted Root and Guster. Scratch’s client list now includes many of Dayton’s most established businesses and non-profit organizations, and continues to grow.

After a full year of operation, numerous opportunities emerged that would bring about an entirely new path for Scratch Food. Greeting these new challenges gave Scratch Food the inspiration to develop a variety of products and services designed to enhance the quality of life of our clientele through nutrition. Scratch Food created two divisions, each one focused on its clients’ needs while maintaining high culinary standards.

Scratch Events is a food forward, cutting edge catering firm with sexy, no holds barred, designer menus backed by a contemporary engineering style approach to execution and service. We embrace your culinary challenge, no matter how unique or intricate. We are the company that looks forward to creating a remarkable culinary experience at any event.

Meals from Scratch is a different mission. Meals from Scratch’s goal is to provide nutritionally dense meals and educational resources to improve client’s health. Crucial to that mission is developing their understanding of better nutrition, and respond to a growing need for convenient solutions to nutritional challenges as well as dietary and/or medical constraints. The local market for this unique type of food service is largely untapped – no company to date has partnered with a medical institution to specifically reach this target market for this specific purpose.

With a growing and expansive amount of information detailing the decline of America’s health, the products and services offered by Meals from Scratch is timely, arriving to greet this new tide of changing public awareness and need. At the core of all our food are freshly made, nutrient-dense meals. The standards apply to any wedding, conference,or other major event you are planning on hosting. Our meals also serve the diverse dietary needs and contemporary flavor preferences of our clients looking for health-based options. Scratch Food’s meals adhere to the specifications we developed by working with health professionals to support diets required to be heart-healthy, diabetic, low calorie, or any other nutritional needs. We can accommodate the needs of vegans as well.

We take into account the health of the planet by utilizing green packaging and locally-sourced products while delivering global flavor. Our meats are pastured animals free from hormones, antibiotics, nitrites and other large industry practices that are quickly falling out of favor.
