Food for the Fight | Proceeds to The Pink Ribbon Girls

It has been well over 2 years since I was first contacted by the Pink Ribbon Girls.  What are they all about you ask ? They are a non-profit whose mission is to provide personalized support to young women throughout all phases of the breast cancer journey. They accomplish this through education, outreach, awareness, and one-on-one support to women and their families.

They contacted us because they heard we were a feisty, forward thinking food service company that might just be the right fit to complement their compassionate mission.  Simply put, they knew that under the harrowing circumstances their members faced, typical routines such as housekeeping, transportation, child care and meal production would become insurmountable. Their program title – “Simply Fight” sums it up:  The Pink Ribbon Girls endeavor to remove these burdens from their clients so they can dedicate their efforts to getting well.

From the beginning of our partnership, we have worked towards earning our keep.  As I am fond of pointing out, being close to this organization and their members has a way of reorganizing your priorities.  We frequently speak with clients that are bravely facing life’s most difficult and grim circumstances.  Who are we to do anything less than the best we can for these women ?

From the first little bit of research that we read regarding the detriment of processed foods to the cancer struggle, we have continued to research the best foods, methods and nutritional models for The Pink Ribbon Girls.

For the first time publicly Scratch will be providing a cooking class to illustrate our strategy for feeding someone with cancer – FOOD for THE FIGHT we call it ! As you might suspect, this strategy is also useful to benefit lifestyle diseases such as Heart Disease, Diabetes and even Alzheimers.
